FX Network / Season 1
With nine out of ten episodes set in a post-apocalyptic world, almost all graphic elements had to be created from scratch. In some cases, this was done to emphasise specific themes—such as designing a stack of books to highlight society’s male-dominated nature and acceptance of toxically masculine behaviours. Similarly, certain graphic elements were inspired by real-life shows, such as a nod to a particular long-running series featuring a strong middle-aged female cop in New York City, focused on "special victims". In other instances, it was driven by legal considerations, like the creation of an entire fictional bulk store called “PriceMax,” which bears a striking resemblance to a real-world membership chain.
Other design work for the series included custom album covers, product labels, packaging, and a fully branded brochure for a government-funded space program, vinyl printed 25-foot murals to look aged, and vehicle wraps.
